Skate Sharpening
Your edges, your specs, every time.
Hockey skate sharpening in South Brooklyn, by appointment. Your hollow on file, level edges on every pair, and a clean finish you can see.
Every pair, every time. No shortcuts.
We save your hollow (1/2", 5/8", whatever you run) and how you like your skates. Every visit gets matched to it. Same feel, every time. That's the whole point.
Every pair goes on an edge-level gauge before it leaves. If one edge sits higher than the other, it goes back on the wheel.
Grinding leaves a tiny burr on the edge. We take it off by hand with a honing stone, so your first strides don't feel grabby.
Freshly dressed wheel, then light, slow finishing passes. You get a smooth, near-mirror edge. Not a scratched-up one.
No over-grinding. We take off only what's needed, so your blade profile holds and your steel lasts longer.
Sharpened on a Blackstone professional sharpener, the same kind of machine pro and college shops run.
If the edge isn't right, bring them back. We redo it free. No arguing.
Skates come back wiped down, dried, and with guards on. Ready to throw in the bag.
I play in Brooklyn too, so I sharpen every pair like it's my own skates.

Matched to your profile on a Blackstone sharpener. Fresh wheel, light finishing passes, level gauge, hand deburr.
Usually within 24 hours. Clean, dry, guards on. Your specs stay on file for next time.
The hollow is the groove ground into the bottom of your blade. A smaller radius (like 3/8") is deeper, so you get more bite and quicker stops but less glide. A larger radius (5/8"–1") is shallower: more speed and glide, less bite. Many adult players start around 1/2" and adjust from there. Not sure? Ask and we'll help you dial it in. Flat Bottom V profiles are available too.
It depends on how much you skate, your weight, and how picky you are. A lot of rec and beer-league players sharpen every 2–4 skates. Signs you're due: you slide out on hard turns, your stops feel skiddy, or you can see nicks on the edge. Hit a post, a bench door, or concrete? Time to sharpen now.
After sharpening, we put a gauge on the blade to confirm the inside and outside edges are the same height. Uneven edges make you feel like you're falling to one side. Every pair we do gets checked.
It's your specs on file: your hollow, plus anything you care about, like which skates are which. Next visit, we match it. You don't have to remember a thing.
Bring them back and we'll redo it free. If something's off, we want to fix it.
We're focused on hockey and goalie skates at launch. Reach out if you have something else and we'll let you know.
